Gender Equality Plan

At NovaSci gender equality is a core value. This Gender Equality Plan aims to promote a balanced and inclusive environment where all individuals, regardless of gender, can thrive and contribute equally. The plan applies to all members of the organisation, including employees, management, and stakeholders. We aim to promote equal opportunities through fair and transparent hiring, promotion, and professional development. Staff are encouraged and supported to maintain a healthy work-life balance through an adoption of flexible working, online access to minimise travel, and wherever possible avoidance of activities that interfere with family and care responsibilities. We monitor our performance as a continuous process and proactively seek to improve our performance.

Supporting Inclusivity

We are supportive of an inclusive culture where diversity is valued, identities are respected, and discrimination is not tolerated. Staff are encouraged and supported to access training on gender equality, unconscious bias, and inclusive practices. Inclusive language in all internal and external communications. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination, harassment, and bullying.  

Recruitment and Hiring

Job Advertisements will use gender-neutral language and will recognise and support flexibility in access to application, and interviews.   Diversity in candidate pools will be supported by actively seeking applications from underrepresented genders to roles and unconscious bias in selection avoided by using blind recruitment procedures.

Promotion and Professional Development 

Clear, transparent criteria will be used for promotions and career advancement. To support both personal and professional career development, all staff, regardless of gender, will be supported to identify mentors, from within, and outside of the organisation. All staff will be encouraged and supported to offer mentoring. Equal access to training and development opportunities will be provided.

Work-Life Balance

Support will be offered through access to flexible working hours, remote work options, and part-time positions for staff needing them.  Support for parental and care responsibilities will be offered regardless of gender.

Awareness and Training

We provide mandatory training on gender equality, unconscious bias, and inclusive practices for all employees, and promote awareness campaigns to highlight the importance of gender equality and celebrate diversity.
